Our big trees, sizes XL and bigger, require expert delivery and care, that means our extra-large trees are shipped on Bower & Branch trucks. The cones are cool, too, and turn from a pinkish-purple color to a dark denim-blue. Korean Fir is a mountain species that hangs out at around 3,000 to 6,000 feet elevation in South Korea. It is adapted to moderate temperatures, but snow is no stranger to it. The late German nurseryman Gunter Horstmann named this selection ‘Silberlocke’ because of the way the needles curl around the branches, exposing the silvery-white undersides. Silber means “Silver” in German, and locke refers to a “lock” of hair. We think it looks like Frosted Mini-Wheats. You can also include it in a collection of dwarf conifers, which is a lovely way to showcase a variety of foliage colors and textures in your landscape all year long. Near rock walls, boulders, or stonework of any kind it will look most natural, bringing the feel of the mountains to your home. This rare conifer is known for its soft, curly, two-tone needles that are dark green on one side and frosty white on the other. Horstmann's Silberlocke Korean Fir is a choice specimen evergreen tree that looks like a "flocked" Christmas tree.
